SMS Communications Program

New York Cue Club ("NYCC", "we", "us", or "our") operates a transactional SMS messaging program for members of our private members-only billiards club at 20 West 37th Street, New York, NY 10018.

About this program

New York Cue Club is a private members-only club. Membership is by application and approval; we do not offer public signup. Our SMS program supports two purposes for approved members:

  1. Verification codes — one-time codes sent via SMS to verify identity during member login and during phone number changes.
  2. Account notifications — transactional notifications about your membership, billing, reservations, opponent changes for shared reservations, and league match activity, sent according to each member's communication preferences.

We do not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.

How members opt in

Approved members begin onboarding at https://members.nycueclub.com/onboarding/start. This page is publicly viewable so the SMS consent surface can be inspected directly; the rest of onboarding requires the member to authenticate via a welcome email link sent only to approved members.

On the onboarding entry page, the member is shown the following consent disclosure verbatim:

By entering and verifying your mobile number, you agree to receive SMS messages from New York Cue Club, including (1) one-time verification codes for member login and phone verification, and (2) account notifications based on your communication preferences (billing, membership status, reservation reminders, opponent notifications, and league match updates). Message frequency varies based on your activity and preferences. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. New York Cue Club will not share your mobile information or opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

The member taps "Agree & continue" as an explicit affirmative action before proceeding. A 6-digit verification code is then sent via SMS; entering the code completes the opt-in.

Phone verification by SMS is required for member account security and physical building access. Ongoing SMS notifications across optional categories (reservation reminders, opponent updates, league match activity, and similar) may be enabled or disabled per category at any time; members may choose to receive those notifications via email or in-app only and not via SMS.

Message types

Members may receive SMS messages in the following categories when SMS is enabled for that category in their communication preferences:

  • Login verification codes
  • Phone verification codes during onboarding or phone number changes
  • Billing notifications (payment receipts, payment failures, card expiration warnings)
  • Membership status notifications (welcome, renewal reminders, cancellation confirmations)
  • Reservation reminders
  • Opponent change notifications for shared reservations
  • League match updates and reminders

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on member activity and notification preferences. Members can adjust which categories of SMS they receive at any time via the communication preferences page in the member application at https://members.nycueclub.com/communication-preferences.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to any SMS message from New York Cue Club to opt out of all SMS messages. To resubscribe, adjust your communication preferences in the member application or reply START.

Charges

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. New York Cue Club does not charge for SMS messages; standard carrier rates from your provider may apply.

Privacy

New York Cue Club does not share, sell, rent, or disclose mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in/consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio Inc.) solely for the purpose of delivering messages, and not for that provider's own marketing purposes.

Supported carriers

NYCC SMS messages are deliverable on all major US wireless carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
